PC Public Affairs announced that it successfully lobbied to make the state’s Request for Proposal Law for school transportation services made permanent.
This year’s New York State Budget included a provision which made the request for proposal law pertaining school transportation service contracts permanent in New York State.
“It was another terrific team effort by our legislative team, said Andre Claridge,” Managing Partner at PC Public Affairs. “The New York School Bus Contractors Association and PC Public Affairs have been working to make the request for proposal law permanent in New York State for the last couple years. This year we were able to convince the Cuomo Administration, the Senate, and the Assembly about the importance of making sure school districts have a reliable contract vehicle to procure private school bus transportation services.”
The legislative language required to make the request for proposal law permanent included a provision which removed the sunset clause. Since the law’s original passage in 1996, it was incumbent upon NYSBCA and the lobbying team to pursue constant extensions of the law. This will no longer be necessary with the passage of this year’s State Budget.
